What is FAFSA?

What is FAFSA?

Why apply for FAFSA?

It's the gateway to more than $150 billion in college grants, work-study funds, and federal student loans, as well as certain state-based aid. Most students receive some type of financial aid, so you should fill out a FAFSA® application even if you don't think you qualify. Texas also has made filling out the FAFSA a requirement for high school graduation. If you are not wanting to fill this out, see your couselor for an opt out form.

The Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA) is used to collect information to help determine eligibility for state financial aid programs that are administered by institutions of higher education in the state of Texas. Students that are classified as a Texas Resident who cannot apply for federal financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) are encouraged to complete the TASFA. To review the FAFSA filing requirements, visit studentaid.gov or visit the financial aid office at the institution you plan to attend.
