Attendance Procedure
Verification of Absence
All student absences must be verified in writing by a parent or guardian. Written verification of the absence must be received by the school attendance office within three (3) days of a student's return to school. It is best to submit a handwritten note directly to the attendance office.
All notes from parents should include the following information:
- Full legal name of student
- Student's grade
- Date(s) of absence
- Reason for absence
- Parent's signature
- Parent's phone number
- Current date
Medical Absence
In order for an absence to qualify as medical, the student must be in class for at least 15 minutes or return to a class for at least 15 minutes on the same day of the doctor's appointment. The appointment must be supported by documentation such as a note from the health care professional. Each medical absence must be verified by a note for each day.
Tardies
Lampasas High School begin promptly at 7:55 a.m. and dismiss at 3:20 p.m. If a student arrives at school after 7:55 a.m. the student must sign in at the attendance office. If a student is late to class within the first ten (10) minutes of the class, the student is marked tardy. However, if a student arrives after ten (10) minutes, they are considered absent for that period only.
