Ms. Dawn Harp
Welcome to our Learning Support Services page! As part of the special services team; I, personally, am happy you have found time to acquaint yourself with our highly-qualified faculty and staff. As your ARD Facilitator, my responsibilities are to schedule, prepare for and facilitate ARD meetings for students in grades 9-12. In addition, with my number of years of experience in education, now having serve 30 years in this field and my passion to serve individuals with special needs, I will be a resource for both our general education and special education teachers as they strive to meet the unique needs of the students assigned to their classes.
Before finding the perfect, small Texas town of Lampasas, I taught on an International Baccalaureate campus in Temple as an English Co-teacher for students in grades 6-8 and a 6th grade reading teacher. Teaching fourth graders to be world-class writers was a great joy, and I spent fourteen years in Waller ISD teaching writing at an exemplary-rated elementary campus.
I began my adventure in education in 1994 after earning my Bachelor of Science in Academic Studies from Sam Houston State University and later earned my Master of Education in Education Administration in 2010 through Lamar University. I have three grown children. Jake earned his Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Management from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in December 2011. He is now a producer and data analyst for Benroll. J-Rae completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Texas, Tyler in May 2020. She is an RN and works for a home-health agency. Both are married and between them I have seven Grandloves - Karter (11), Charlotte (10), Valerie (8), Mason (10), Brooks (4), Hayes (1), and Ryker (1)! My baby, Brady, graduated from high school in May 2019; he just settled into a more independent life in San Antonio.
In my free time, I enjoy weight-training at the gym, working in the yard, and spending time with family and friends.
A lot has changed since I joined the LHS family for the 2016-'17 school year as the English I and II Co-teacher. One thing remains the same, the special services team at LHS is the best and brightest in their field, and they come alongside our kids every day to support them academically. We are your partners in education, and our goal is to see our students graduate from LHS equipped to lead successful adult lives.
As we launch the new school year, I look forward to seeing the great things your students will do. Thank you for sending us your very best! Please call, come-by or e-mail with any questions, concerns or comments.
Kindest regards,
Dawn
